Our Story
The Story Behind TailorMetric
In 2019, I left my corporate tech job.
I wasn't feeling fulfilled, and I felt a strong need to reconnect with the creative side of myself. I had always been good at Art, so I started drawing again and looking for ways to turn that creativity into something practical.
That curiosity eventually led me to clothes design.
I started watching sewing and pattern-making videos, and before long, I was hooked. I bought a Bernette sewing machine on a budget, picked up a few pieces of fabric, and began experimenting. I would draw patterns, cut the fabric, sew the pieces together, and then try on the finished garment.
The Hard Part
That's when I discovered the hard part.
Getting the fit right was difficult.
I could spend hours working on a garment, only to put it on and realize that something wasn't quite right. The disappointment was real. And every new attempt meant starting the process again, trying to understand what had gone wrong and how to make it better.
Then my friends started asking me to make clothes for them.
I wanted to.
But I rarely managed to fulfil those promises.
Everyone had a different body shape, and what worked for one person didn't necessarily work for another. Pattern drafting, measurements, adjustments and fit became a much bigger challenge than I had expected.
Still, I kept going.
It was a slow but steady journey. Through countless attempts, mistakes and experiments, I gradually learned what worked. Eventually, I was able to create garments that actually fit.
But I kept thinking about the same question:
Could there be an easier way to get started with pattern making?
Years later, that question became TailorMetric.
